GM-GMC: TRANSMISSION FLUID HAS BURNED SCENT, g20 chevy, chevy van

QUESTION: I HAVE A 1990 GMC K2500(SAME AS G20 CHEVY VAN) CONVERSION HIGH TOP VAN. 350 ENGINE. IS THERE A PUMP THAT MOVES THE TRANSMISSION FLUID THROUGH THE TRANSMISSION COOLER? IF SO, WHAT IS THAT PART NUMBER. THE COOLER FEELS COOL AND THE FLUID CHECK IS HOT AND SMELLS BURNED. SO, IT SEEMS THE FLUID IS NOT GETTING THROUGH THE TRANS COOLER ATTACHED TO THE RADIATOR DUE TO A CLOGGED OR KINKED LINE OR A FAULTY TRANSMISSION PUMP. ANY SUGGESTIONS?

ANSWER: yes it is suppose to circulate through the cooler but i would not know the part number to a pump or that you need to call an auto parts place for that. if it smells burnt you might just need to change the transmission fluid it still will be hot even with a cooler the cooler doesnt keep it cold it just is an extra protection for vehicles that are HD and used usually to pull or haul heavy loads... so the cooler may have stopped working or it just may need a trans fluid change...

QUESTION: I HAVE REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION FLUID 3 TIMES IN 3 MONTHS, SO IT HAS TO BE A PUMP OR THE COOLER I GUESS. Question : Does this transmission have a pump or does the fluid propel by the transmission movement???

Please turn off caps lock... I do not know why it would smell that way unless the cooler has stopped working or the pump I would not know which call a auto parts store and get pricing on one or the other or both, even though I know enough to possibly make a diagnosis in person here where I can't see the vehicle it is hard to tell. I would take it to a trans place and just ask if they heard of that before they usually will answer simple questions.
