GM-GMC: BLOWER MOTOR LOCATION, chevy blazer, coolant temperature

Question
I have a "92" Chevy Blazer and I'm almost sure the blower motor burned out. It would work then start making a grinding noise. Now it doesn't work at all. I need to know where it is located in order to replace it. Also on the instrument panel the temp is not registering, last week it was showing it was over heating but it wasn't, now I get no reading. Does my thermostat need to be changed?
Thank You
Colleen

Answer
I do not for certain where the blower motor is due to the year and the fact that there are full size and S-10 Blazers.  It most vehicles, the blower is located on the passnger side of the firewall inside the engine compartment.  GM is famous for hiding the blowers between the fender well and the body on the extreme end of the firewall on the passenger side.

The overheating problem may have been caused by the thermostat, but there are other possibilities as well.  Unless you are certain that the engine is not overheating, you should NOT be driving the vehicle.  With the temperature gauge malfunctioning, you can do serious damage to the engine if it overheats and is not stopped.

The temperature gauge is not connected to the thermostat.  The gauge indicates what the coolant temperature is in the cylinder head.  The thermostat regulates the temperature of the coolant.
