1995 Chev Silv. 1500 automatic trans 350 motor in good shape.  I am having a break light problem.  They do not come on when I press on the pedeal.  All other lights work, turn,running,4ways.  I changed the fues and it did not fix the problem.  what am I missing or where do i need to look.

I suspect that your brake light switch is either out of adjustment or is defective.

The switch position is adjustable and sometimes they slip out of position.

The switch is near the top of the brake pedal arm and is hard to see and reach.  If you can adjust it, try moving it to see if your brake lights come on.  If that fails, most auto parts stores carry replacement switches.

i bought a new switch and looked at the pedial were the switch goes. is there a trick on how to install this switch?

Answer
Some brake switches are threaded, others use a spring clip, and some may be installed on a bracket that is then installed on the brake pedal support.

It is difficult to work on the switch, due to its location.

The first thing to do is unplug the old switch and make sure that it fits the new switch.  You should also be able to test your brake lights by allowing the switch to hang loosely.  With the button on the switch not depressed, the brake lights should be on.  With the button depressed, the brake lights should be off.

After that, make sure that the body of the switch appears similar to what is on the vehicle.

You can then tackle the removal and replacement issue.
