GM-GMC: 1993 Chevrolet 3500 (6.2 Diesel), fan shroud, chevy 3500


Question
The Low coolant light in the 1993 Chevy 3500 is staying on.  Checked levels ok, truck does not overheat, eveything seems to be running except for the coolant light stays on.

Whats wrong?

Answer
The sender, located in one side of the radiator, could be bad.  The other possibility is the wire leading to the sender has worn a hole in its insulation and is touching ground.

The sender is usually on the engine side of the radiator and may be hidden by the fan shroud.

If you can find it, try disconnecting the wire and see if the ligght goes out.  If it does, you have a bad sensor.  If not, you have a wiring problem.
