GM-GMC: GMC radiator, gmc z71, side tanks

Question
I have a 1995 GMC Z71 but it keeps losing water. I had the radiator flushed but there is a dripping on the left front of the truck. I suspected it was the radiator plug since it was so close in that area but it wasn't. Could you please tell me how I could find out where the water is coming from?  Thank you.

Answer
Carol,

The easiest and quickest way would be to pressure test the cooling sytem. Basicly the leak can be hard to locate, with the cooling system under pressure a leak should be fairly obvious. These trucks mostly use an aluminum rad with plastic side tanks, the seal between the tanks and core are not rare to find leaking. Unfortunatly these cannot be repaired and the rad must be replaced. If you really have a hard time finding a leak, see if you can buy a small "Blue Light" used to find leaks by using a leak detector dye. The neat thing here is that conventional(green) coolant acts as a natural dye and will glow a yellow/orangy color under the blue light. You should be able to get a light in a Pen style light. Hope this helps
