Answer
Kas,
Corrosion of connections is a very large problem with these vehicles. If this vehicle has a security system. I would try and reset the computer. More on how to do that in a moment. First, release the hood/bonnet, turn off all accessories and the radio. Make sure the battery is in top notch condition, remove the (-) then (+) terminals, clean all electrical connections leave disconnected for now. Remove all the fuses and clean the tips and their holders. If the fuse strips are aluminum, I would try and locate copper strip fuses and replace them.

By allowing the battery to be disconnected, the computer Memory is allow to reset. I would reconnect the battery (+)first, then (-). Unlock the door and try to start the vehicle.

If you are still not getting any indication of a start, the next thing is to check the diagnostic terminal. It may be mounted on the driver side finder. That is where it is on my 420sel.
You will need to dos some research to see which port is to be check for voltage. One of the ports will tell you if the ignition switch is providing power to the systems.
I had a similar problem, and had to replace the switch.
.
If the switch proves OK. the next possibility is the distributor module or the electronic ignition module.
I Hope this helps,
Good luck
