Is it worth getting it fixed? He has all service records from 2000-2006. car is clean inside and out. looks great, don't know what to expect as far as repair. could it be something simple like stale gas or something much deeper? thanx for any help

Definitely bad gas to start. You need to drain as much fuel as possible.
If you are mechanically inclined,
You can siphon it from the tank if you have a proper hose and pump.

Once empty. Get someTechtron fuel additive and pour in the tank with premium fuel. Fill the tank about half full and get the vehicle started.
It may take some time to clean the injector.

Vehicles of this vintage can be expensive to repair unless you shop for used parts and find a local independent mechanic.
The cost of repair in relation to the retail value is the issue.
Good luck, and let us know how things go.
