Mercedes: 76 Mercedes 280s, rotten egg odor, mercedes 280s

When I want to punch it from a stop sign, it won't.. it just slowly builds up rpms.  After 2nd gear (automatic) it won't kick into the high gear when I punch it.. Basically...no punch. How can I adjust.  Is it the vacuum govenor?

Does this car have a catalytic converter? If so it sounds like it is clogged.
Have you had an emissions check done? Is there any rotten egg odor from the exhaust pipe, or smoke?
What octane fuel are you using?
When were the plugs last changed?
When was the air cleaner last changed?
