Mercedes: SRS CODE THAT APPEARS, air bag, automatic belt tensioner

Question
WHAT DOES SRS STAND FOR --- HAD CAR INSPECTED YESTERDAY AND NOTICED ON THE DISPLAY A CODE "SRS"

PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS.

THANK YOU

Answer
Hello Marie,
If the light is on, your airbag and automatic seat belt tension control if installed, may be inoperative. Also, a defective brake light switch, about $25.00 or worn airbag brushes in the steering column 2 @ $3.00 can cause the light to be on.
It would be a good idea to locate an independent Mercedes Mechanic who knows how to read the computer codes to assist you.
Or a Mercedes dealer could help, but probably at a higher cost.
Let me know how it turns out.
