Mercedes: Mercedes 560SL door locks, door locks, burgular alarm

When I insert my key to lock or unlock the doors or trunk, it does nothing.   You used to be able to hear the mechanism go around the car unlocking or locking.  Now there is no sound...and you can't lock the doors.  Any ideas?

There may be an issue with the fuse that supplies power to the electric locks.
Locate the fuse box and the lid should should provide a diagram telling what each fuse supplies.
Once located, remove the fuse and check the condition. The slug use will be clearly burned in to if it has failed. However, if there is corrosion on the tip of the fuse it could cause a fault with the electrical supply to the circuit. Use a fine grained nail board to polish the tip. Clean the copper socket and reinstall. Give the door try.

Now, it that is not the issue. I would just for kicks, turn of all items in the vehicle and disconnect the battery ground terminal.
Wait 15 minutes, clean the terminal and post and reconnect. Give it another try and see if that helps.

The door lock are integrated with the anti theft system, so if none of the above work, there may be may be a way to reset the alarm.
