Mercedes: engine dies, fuel pump relay, mercedes benz 380se

Question
-Thank you so much. May I ask if the fuel pump relay is an internal part of the fuel pump? How do we measure fuel pump pressure? Dad is 80 and on a small pension. Tries to work on it himself due to finances. Someone gave him this car and now I know why..Still, he likes this old car.------------------------

Question -
My dad has a 1984 280S Mercedes. The car starts just fine and runs good for 5-10 minutes then suddenly dies..He has to let the car set for about an hour before it will start again. Then it starts and runs good again for another 5-10 minutes. Then dies again. He has changed the big fuel filter under the car next to the gas tank. This did not help.  Any ideas..good compression.
Answer -
Possible:
#1. Fuel pump relay heating up and failing.
#2. Ignition coil heating up and failing.
#3. Fuel pump failing.

Need fuel pressure monitored until it fails.
Check resistance of ignition coil.

Answer
Odd random thought, remove fuel cap and see if car still shuts down.

The fuel pump relay is a seperate small module, under hood or dash panel.
