Mercedes: A/C and Heater Blower Vents, independent mechanic, dash vents

My 1998 ML320 only blows air out of the dash vents. can not change to floor vents. A/C and heater work fine but can not control where air blows from.

There is a problem with the dash control unit, or the blend motor is probably bad. I would locate an independent mechanic with a good MB scanner. If the blend motor is the problem, it will probably require removal of the dash to repair.
