-----Question-----
in my 99 VR4, if I try and downshift into 1st above 15mph, I grind.  Is that bad synchros and if so how hard is it to fix?
-----Answer-----
Yes Joffre, it sounds like you have burned up the first gear syncro. About $1500 to repair. Unless you are an "A" experienced transmission rebuilder, it would be near impossible for you to do yourself. I couldn't either.

As you go through life's travels, remember that brakes are cheaper than transmissions and clutches. ;)

Answer
Joffre,

Hope you had a great Thanksgiving!

You have 4 wheel disc brakes with a separate drum set for your parking brake. You can not adjust the disc brakes, but on the rears, there is a little window covered by a rubber plug. Behind that you will see the adjuster wheel. They make a tool for it but a screwdriver will do it. It's like a star and you turn it until the rear tire is barely slowed by it by hand. Do both sides and your all set.
