Mitsubishi: 4 wheel drive indicator 2000 Montero Sport, montero sport, wheel speed

Question
I have a 2000 montero sport LS v6 3.0L 4wd.  After driving for a minute or so in 2 wheel drive, the 4wd indicator light blinks and intermittently stops blinking only for a few seconds.  After a few stops the Anti-Lock light illuminates and stays on.  Both lights go out and follow the same pattern if I turn my vehicle off and restart it.  I can put the car into 4L or 4H and the light stays on and the 4wd engages.  I really don't think that I have shifted the car from 4H to 4L at any time, and the problem appeared in the middle of normal driving while in 2 wheel drive.  The anti-lock problem started at the same time.

Answer
Hi Steve,

I think you have a bad wheel speed sensor. The blinking lights indicate that a code is present in the computer memory and we need to know that code or codes. I suggest taking the vehicle to someone that can scan it. Cottman transmissions will do this for free. cottman.com for one nearest you.
