Mitsubishi: air conditioner, mitsubishi galant, load sensor

2001 mitsubishi galant 2.4liter, my air conditioner works at night when its cool but not during the day when its hot? Checked it for leaks, no leaks, and compressor does work at night?

Sorry I don't have anything for you on this other than some vehicles have a load sensor which detects sunlight and increase the a/c output depending on how bright it is outside. This is located on top of the dash. If you have this feature (I couldn't find it anywhere though) it could be the problem.
