Nissan: passing emissions inspection, nissan 300zx, passing emissions

Question
300ZX has 171,000 miles. Runs pretty good, pretty strong, maybe a little valve chatter, but nothing serious. Turbo? No. Injector or harness issues? None. Misses? No. I use premium gas to help prevent problems. Carfax said it failed New York emissions test, before I bought the car from a guy in Oregon state fours years ago. I am about to try Ethos FR next. After that, I will take it to a private facility, to get a sticker, rather then a waiver.
Sorry that my Eagles had to beat your Giants. (ha ha)

-----Question-----
1993 Nissan 300ZX.
HydroCarbons suppose to be 120. Mine read 156 first time, 223 the second time?
NOx passed the first time, with 863, then failed the second time, with 1546? NOx suppose to be 907.
CO% is OK.
Talk about extremes huh?
This is absurd.
I am ready to try straight alcohol?
Question-----
any suggestions on getting me a product that will get past the emissions testing in NJ? I have failed twice in the past two weeks for Nox and HC. Tried Justice Brothers injector cleaner.
-----Answer-----
What year, make and model. What are the exact readings?
-----Answer-----
HC IS USUALLY CAUSED BY FUEL THATS NOT BURNING. CHECK YOUR IGNITION SYSTEM AND TIMING, CHECK YOUR PLUGS AND COILS. MAKE SUR YOUR EGR IS NOT HANGING OPEN. WHERE IN NJ ARE YOU? OUR SHOP IS IN NJ.
-----Answer-----
Parsippany NJ. How many miles are on this? Turbo? does the engine run smooth or does it have a miss in it? I own a 92 and these cars are pretty tough. A lot of injector issues and harness issues.

Answer
Valve chatter is very common. Might be why its not passing. Lifters collapse in those engines. Not a fun task and very $$$$. If your not getting enough valve lift you may not be burning all of the fuel. Also take note that those cars are also famous for bad injectors, they leak. I would take it to a PIF and pay extra for the sticker, its easier.
