Oldsmobile/Buick: transmission, gear overdrive, car transmissions

Question
i have recently within the past 4 months bought a 88 olds regency 98, when i bought it, it had no brakes, so i ended up towing it to my house 50 miles, fixed all that, found out transmission was slipping, transmission lines were leaking, fixed that, did a oil and filter change, did not find any shavings in the pan, first gear is fine, second gear comes and goes, third gear is lucky to go into gear, overdrive is in and out, passing gear goes in rough, can not find a band adjustment on it, im more use to the rear wheel drive transmissions, easy to spot, is the transmisison going out,can i do a band adjustment, or should i junk the car? your help is very appreciated whether you know the answer or not. thank you

Answer
Keith ,

Hard to say without me physically looking at it.Rebuild kits are reasonably priced if its worth it to you. Availability of rebuilt/salvage transmissions is pretty high and cost effective.

Depends on how much time and money you want to put into the car. Transmissions rebuilt professionaly/OEM store bought stock will run you between $859-1300 uninstalled.

Hope this helps.Don't forget to rate my response to you.

Cheers,
