Oldsmobile/Buick: 83 tornado high idle, vacuum hoses, chilton manual

Question
I changed the spark plugs/wires, dist cap, rotor, oil and all belts today and now my 83 tornado will only stay on high idle.  I am wondering if you can help me also i am wondering if there is any way I can get a copy of the vacuum diagram for my car, as a lot of the vacuum hoses are disconnected.  I am unsure of where they all belong.  Also the emissions pump is making a funny sound like bearings going out.

Answer
Angelo ,

Look all the way around the Carb. there should be a circular unit with two wires attached to it ,not very big at all . This is the auto-idle/choke , when you start the car this kicks in until the car gets to a certain temp and then kicks down . If the wire is disconnected the car will be stuck in this auto-idle mode . Hunt down that wire , as I remember my 83 had it up top and my 87 down low .

The Haynes or Chilton manual will be able to give you a vacuum diagram for your car .

Angelo , if you have any more questions please feel free to ask . Don't forget to rate my response to you .
