Pontiac: 1995 Surpentine Belt, spring tension, pontiac grand am

Question
I replaced the alternator in my sons 1995 Pontiac Grand Am without loosening the surpentine belt.  Now that I have the alternator installed, I couldn't figure out how to loosen the surpentine belt to get it over the alternator.

The serpentine belt AUTOMATIC ADJUSTER is internally spring loaded and all you need is either a wrench to fit on the SQUARE protrusion on the adjuster to either push or pull and HOLD the spring tension off from within the tensioner and slip the belt back on.
