Pontiac: traveling, electric fuel pump, coolant hoses

Question
I will be traveling from middle Tennessee to Miami, Florida and was wondering what I should do to my car to prepare for the trip.
The car is a 4 cylinder Pontiac Grand Am with 130,000 miles on it...It has always been maintained properly and has new tires on it.It has new plugs and plug wires and a new electric fuel pump. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Answer
Usually when I prepare, especially on my Fiero since it has as many miles as your Grand Am, I check all hoses.  I check all coolant hoses for any leaks while the engine is hot.  I check all necessary fluids such as oil level, transmission oil level and coolant level, in your case add power steering fluid to that list.
I also just do a quick check on my air filter, and all ignition system connections, to make sure nothing is loose.
Lastly I check tire pressure.

Just make sure to take a good look around your engine for any leaks of any kind, those are the ones that can leave you permanently stranded out on the highways of America.
As long as you don't see any leaks and all your fluids are good, and tire pressure, you should be ready.  I also like to carry some antifreeze with me and some oil just in case.

That pretty much covers all the basics.
Hope the trip goes well.
