Chrysler Repair: Rear wiper adjustment: Pacifica, 2007 chrysler aspen, motor shaft

Question
How do I remove the entire rear wiper assy from the motor shaft on my 2007 Chrysler Aspen. It travels a couple of inches down onto the gate and is beginning to scratch the paint. I would like to adjust the travel upwards.

Answer
Hi Gary,
I see in the '06 manual that there is a cap at the base of the wiper arm which pivots so as to reveal a nut which holds the wiper arm to the wiper motor shaft. If you remove the nut you then should be able to gently rock the arm's knurled fitting to the shaft so that it comes off. Then you can re-install the arm in a slightly rotated position so that it no longer drops below the edge of the glass and toucher the paint. Put the nut back on (tighten to 80 inch-pounds if you have a low torque tool, otherwise use you judgement) and flip the cap back in place.
