Saab: 99 9.3 battery charging, common digital, electrical leakage

Question
If I leave the car alarm engaged and do not start it for a couple days the battery dies. When the alarm is not on it lasts maybe a week or so then have to charge the battery. Took it to Auto Zone and had battery and alternator checked. Checked fine.

Any suggesstions?  Also the ignition has to be turned off and on several times before the "radio, door chime, and lites go out when exiting the vehicle. I have srayed cleaner intot eh switch and works slightly better.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Randy

Answer
Randy:
Under no normal circumstance should the alarm draw so much current that it depletes the battery so quickly. Likewise, when the alarm is NOT on, the battery is unnaturally drained. One way to check what is responsible is to connect an ammeter in the battery path (using the 'current' mode of a common digital VOM (Autozone/Walmart) and selectively removing fuses until the current goes nearly to zero. It sounds like a "defective or "sticking" " relay or contaminated ignition switch (allowing electrical leakage), but that is only a guess.
     Hope this helps,
