Saab: saab 900s roof wont open, saab 900s, sunny melbourne

Question
Hi, Recently purchased a 1998 saab 900s convertible. It drives beautifully but I have had a few niggly problems. Today I went to open the roof, being a beautiful sunny Melbourne morning and nothing. No roof motor noise, no windows starting to drop.
Could you please give me some pointers on where to start looking for the possible fault.
Currently I have a warning and srs (abs) light showing. Will be back to the mechanic to replace a part in the steering wheel next week. I don't think this is connected to the roof though as it has been opening and closing no problems even with these warnings.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

Naomi:

I do not have direct hands on experience with your model as noted in my profile, but since SAAB doesn't change much, this may help. I would start with checking the fuses and also the handbrake switch (it allows top movement only when the handbrake is applied), as well as the convertible top relay located under the rear seat. (All the above is for 1993 and earlier SAABS), but as I said, may be applicable.
 Hope this helps,
