Saab: 97 900 SE turbo A/C not working, clutch motor, jumper wire

Question
My A/C clutch motor wasn't engaging so I used a jumper wire directly to it and it works. All my fuses seem to have power on both sides. Pulled the relay and jumper wired that, clutch engaged and worked great again. It appeared to be the relay, nope. Put in a new relay and still not working. What drives the relay?  Any ideas, as to where to next? Oh BTW, one of those $20 cans of freon with the cheesy meter says I'm slightly overcharged, how did that happen? I'd appreciate any thoughts you might have.

Answer
Dear c2:
As noted in my profile, my hands-on experience is limited to 1990 and OLDER Saabs.  However, assuming that your model uses a similar system, then what you need to check is the SYSTEM PRESSURE SWITCH. This inhibits compressor activation when there is insufficient pressure or, on some vehicles, ALSO, when there is too much pressure. This switch is usually found on the receiver dryer cannister (for the older cars). I do not know where it is on yours.
The switch is closed when there is proper pressure.
                          Hope this helps,
                                        Jerry

PS: Don't worry about the pressure reading...it can vary greatly within normal operation.
