Toyota: Serpentine Belt Problem, goodyear gatorback belt, napa auto parts

Question
David, I changed the serpentine belts on an 2002 & 2003 Camry (4cyl). I put the socket on the 19mm hex head which is cast into the arm of the
tensioner. I then took the wrench, pressed and pull forward to relieve the tension. This is how I pulled the old belts off and put the new one's on.  Here's the problem.  Now both cars make a rattling, knocking, metallic sound around the tensioner. Almost sounds like a very loud rattling sound.  The vehicles run perfectly, but the sound is very noticable. FYI I used a Goodyear Gatorback Belt from NAPA Auto Parts.  Any advice or information is greatly appreciated.  Thank You

Answer
Well, Bobby, to me it sounds like it's the tensioner bearings that maybe the reason for your problem. The way you describe the sound is the typical symptom.

Check it out and write back to me if you need anymore info or if that isn't the case.  Try to rev it by hand while you are under the hood.  Carefully, please! :)  See if you can pinpoint the sound:)

Hope this helps
