Question
i have a 99 toyota tacoma and the check engine light has been on for a while! it has lost power and when i try to excelerate it doesnt seem to want to. it holds back. also when im driving down the freeway it kind of chugs or cuts out! like gas is struggling to get through! i replaced the fuel filter and i got a tuneup which they changed the spark plugs and still did not fix the problem. then they tell me i need new O2 sensors so i replaced them and it still did not help! nobody knows whats wrong. can you help?

thanks, Josie

Answer
Hello,

Check engine light means that something with fuel and carburation is wrong. Check the cat, the lambda sond, the air filter and the mafs (mass air flow sensor, placed between the throttle body and the air filter box.

BTW if you go to an official toyota dealer, they could read the error code from your ECU (Electronic control unit) and tell you what is wrong.

Hope this helps!
