Volkswagen: Check engine light, vw dealer, vw beetle

Question
My wife has a 2002 VW Beetle. The check engine light will come on for a week or
two, and then turn off. The car seems to be running fine. Just last week the light
came on again along with the airbag light. Again, the car seems to be running
fine. Should I take it to the VW dealer in town and have them look at it, or just
keep driving it. Advice...

Ken,  There are literally thousands of possible causes for the Check Engine light.  Even though it seems to run fine, at some point you should get it OBD scanned to pull the error code.  If you retrieve some error codes, you can look them it up yourself at:
