Volkswagen: 1978 Bug key lock ignition diagram, hex nut, key cylinder

I want to change out the key lock ignition on my bug. I need to know how to get the get the key cylinder out with out taking the column apart.Is there a diagram i can refer to.

 Sorry, the steering wheel must come off.  In addition, the hex nut holding the switch housing must be removed, this is located under the left side(US).  After that, the key must be inserted and in the ON position for the housing to come off.  This is an anti-theft feature.  Once you have the housing in your hands, the ignition tumbler can be removed.  There are numerous other details I haven't mentioned here, however, there is a good write-up here:
