Volkswagen: OXS light???, oxygen sensor, electrical plug

Question
i have a 86 jetta and some little red light came on that says OXS. i called around and everyone said its my oxygen sensor. My question is how do i find it on the car and replace it?

Answer
It is located under the car, threaded onto a fitting on the exhaust pipe, closer to the engine, not at the back of the car.  Sometimes there are two, one just upstream from the catalytic converter and one just after it.  It looks kind of like a spark plug, with an electrical plug connected to it.   You may need a special wrench to get it off and the new one(s) back on because of the electrical plug.  BTW, the catalytic converter looks like a muffler, but it is located somewhere on the exhaust pipe between the engine and the actual muffler.  Be careful, it gets very hot, so wait until everything is cool before going for it.
