Volkswagen: VW passat 2001.5 1.8T Cold start problem, vw passat, code p0300

I took my VW passat to autozone and the code P0300 came up meaning that cylinder 1 through 4 were misfiring.. This problem started in the recent cold weather.When I start the car in th morning its starts but i need to rev up the eingine,,if not then it stalls on me.. The rpm goes up and down and the engine light comes on.When it is warm I dont need to rev up the engine but the engine light stays on???? need help badly thnks alot...

P0300 is difficult to diagnose as all it means is that misfires were detected and there are many things that can cause misfire.  It can either be fuel or ignition related.  Did you also get P0301, P0302, P0303 or P0304, which are cylinder specific?  If not, I'd start out checking the fuel system.
