Volkswagen: 2004 Jetta door issue, auto parts stores, case thanks

Question
Hello,

I noticed some time ago that the door did not seem to have a good seal.  I could hear wind and traffic quite a bit.  I inspected the seal but couldn't really see any noticible reason for the door to not close properly.  Then about a week ago I started to hear an odd clicking sound when I would open the door from the inside.  I finally tracked it down.  Please excuse the lack of technical terms, I'm not sure what to call it.  I noticed that the metal piece on the inside of the door frame(the door latches on to this to stay closed)is coming very loose.  It is kept on by 2 large screws that have a pattern on them that I am unfamilar with.  It's getting pretty bad.  Today when I closed the door the door swung back open and one of the screws fell on the ground.  I was able to put it back in place and tried to screw it back in by pushing on it with my thumb as hard as I could while turning.  What is the best corse of action?  What is this tool so I can try to get this tighened up?  I'm afraid of my door opening while I'm driving.  I assume if it's locked it wouldn't but I really don't know if that is the case.

Thanks

Answer
The pattern is called XZN or triple square.  They are tough to find except at some specialty auto parts stores.  If you can't find them locally, try ebay.  Size is 8M.  Do not get desperate and use a hex or torx as it will strip it.  The catch is made to float for adjustment, so you may need to tweak it around to get it right.  Are you by any chance in Maryland?
