Volkswagen: 2000 VW Beetle Issue, airbag warning light, door latch

Question
Hi, two interesting problems.  First, after sliding driver seat all the way back, the airbag warning light comes on and stays on.  It was fixed once (twice?) by the dealer - do the wires under the seat have a history of failing?  What's the easiest way to get at them to repair/replace/reinforce?

Second - and a more pressing issue - the driver's side door thinks it's open.  Warning bells, door light stays on, etc.  Major problem is that it also causes the "headlight on" warning to sound whenever the lights are on.  This also may have been triggered by moving the seat all the way back.  Where is the door sensor?  I'm assuming a broken wire is causing an open circuit, how can I find it?

Thanks- I'm willing to take the whole car apart to fix the door problem.  Don't have a service manual (yet).

Answer
Yes.. if memory serves me correctly,... there is a wiring problem in the seat belt latch.  Honestly...I would take the car into the dealer and make them repair this.  Especially after they Attempted to repair it and have not.
as far as the door problem.  Sounds to me like the door latch on the drivers door is kaput.  (ie... not working correctly)  lol     I have had luck repairing these...but I have also not.  Once again, order a new one.  That way you don't take the entire door apart, which is not that simple for someone who has not done it before, and not be able to fix you old one.   let me know if I can help with anything else.
