Volkswagen: 72 squareback fuel injection problem?, fuel pressure regulator, vacuum hoses

I have a 72 squareback that runs rich all the time and cold fouls the spark plugs. I have already changed the distributor and the coil. Any ideas on what to look for?

Hi Mark,

Check to make sure that the fuel pressure regulator is functioning properly (the vacuum hoses are connected to it and not cracked).   Also, make sure that the cold start injector is OK and not leaking all the time.

This usually creates a rich-running problem
