Volkswagen: 97 Jetta GT Throttle Body, cruise control system, vacuum line

Question
Does a non-functional cruise control have any thing to do with a non-functional throttle body?  Before I buy a $350 throttle body, is there anything else I can do?  I live in Germany, and apparantly US spec throttle bodies are different from the Euro version.  Is this true??

Answer
Hi Peter,

The cruise control system is not dependent on the throttle body.  It's actually the reverse.

If the cruise is not working; it could be a vacuum line or the servo that pulls open the throttle body.

As to American versus German throttle body specifications, I did not see anything online that indicates they are different.  However, I'm not 100% sure.

I hope this helps you out.
