Volkswagen: fuel injection, air leaks, fuel enrichment

Hi ron great site.. I've got a 1980 westy just bought it .the engine is tired but ran fine it was idling at 2000.  found some air leaks and the TB butterfly was a size smaller, could see daylight everwhere so i apoxyed the housing to tighten it up, looked great no more daylight. now the engine fires good when cold but runs bad and hesitates so bad cann't drive it hot

Hi,

First thing you need to do is find the correct throttle body for that model.  A used one will do.  The epoxy will not work.

Next, replace the #3 temperature sensor.  They are about 12 bucks and control the systems fuel enrichment while it's hot.
