Volkswagen: Automatic transmission for a VW Old Bug, automatic transmission, beetle

Hi!

I wanted to know if it's possible to adapt an automatic transmission to my manual old bug. If so, what type or kind of automatic transmission would be the best? Would there be any problems? Would it affect the performance of the engine?

I'd appreciate it a lot if you answered this. I haven't found anyone that would know.

If your bug is 68 or newer you can put an auto-stick transmission in it.

It works just like an automatic, except you need to pull the shifter down once at about 45 MPH.

No clutch is necessary and it's designed just for the beetle.

I have one myself and love it.
