Volkswagen: Air conditioning on 00 Bora, vw bora, c button

Hi There,

I habe a 200 VW Bora and the air conditioning as stopped working, the light comes on in the cockpit when a/c button is pressed but nothing seems to happen. usually the revs on idle go up slightly as you deppres the button but this doesnt hapen any more. could it be the fuse? if so could u tell me which fuse it is as my manual is in german.

Hi Andrew,

Most likely, the car needs to be charged with coolant.  Lack of coolant turns off the compressor to protect it from over-heating.

There is most likely a leak in the system.

The best way to fix this is to bring it to an A/C shop.  They will put a special dye in the refrigerant and quickly find the leak for you.

This should not be very expensive, and I am almost 90% sure this is your problem.
