Question on my 69 vdubug, got it in very good condition except few things like needing new running boards, but some things bug me.. i do have lines in back window and toggle for defrost but half hour later still no defrost..where do i look to see what isn't hooked up?

I looked on the wiring diagram, here's the skinny:
1) There should be two wires hooked up to the rear window defogger grid.
2) One wire simply grounds to the body.
3) The other one runs to a fuse in the fuse box. (check your book for the exact number fuse) This gives it power.
Sometimes the fittings where the wires plug into the window element get dirty, so it is advisable to gently unplug the wires, clean the two contacts and reconnect.
With that, you should have no problem.
