Volkswagen: 02 Jetta Thermostat, vw jetta, thermostat

I have a '02 1.8T VW Jetta. I am trying to change the thermostat, but I am having a problem locating it. Can you help me find its position? Do you have a diagram for it? Thanks!

Hi Sarah,

I do not have a diagram for one, my apologies.  But, I can tell you where it is located:

The thermostat is located behind the alternator on the front of your engine. You may need to remove the alternator unless you have small hands then just squeeze in there with either a wrench or socket and open that plastic housing up and pull the old thermostat out and replace it with the new thermostat and gasket.

Make sure you do this on a completely cool engine.
