Volkswagen: Passat Power Lock Malfunction, flap button, trunk area

Question
99 Passat 1.8T sedan, power locks don't work, either from remote or inside car. I can lock and unlock driver's door with key, and activate alarm system that way, but other locks have to be operated manually. My most immediate problem is that the fuel filler flap button doesn't work, so I can't get gas in the thing. Is there a way to override the switch and open it manually? Once I get petrol, I can worry about what is causing the problem. Thanks

Answer
Hi Scott,

There is a manual release in the trunk area, near the actual door itself.

For the exact location, look in your owners manual.

Next, the most likely cause of the lock problem is the circuit breaker.  Again, look in your owners manual, it will tell you which one it is.

Most likely, you just need to replace it, and you will be on your way.

Good Luck,

Ron
