Volkswagen: 63 beetle idel problems, volt system, solex

My beetles carb is not holding an idel and it stalls if I am not
pushing the accelerator pedel. The carb is not looose are anything.
My air filter is quite filthy and moist. I was driving to work and the
acceleration gave out. I tried to adjust the carb but to no avail.

Hi Daniel,

Sounds like it could be a bad accelerator pump on the carb.   The best thing to do is to give it a tune-up,  check the timing and the valves,  and try it out.

If the symptoms do not improve,  you can pick up a new carb for under 100.00. (assuming it is the same Solex 6-volt system that came with the car)
