Volkswagen: Volkswagen Cabrio 95, volkswagen cabrio, auto electrician

Hoping you can help. Just replaced the battery on our VW 95 Golf Cabrio. Drove it home, turned it off... now it won't start at all, and if we try to jump it, the horn just goes off. Assuming the battery is fine... problem with alarm system? Any advice would be great. Thanks.

does it have a seperate alarm system fitted? if so it may be the problem, and sadly i can't really help sort that out. only trick that may help is to switch on ignition, disconnect earth lead then reconnect it. this on some occasions fools the immobiliser. but for long term solution you will need to get an auto electrician to have a look at it. sorry i can't be of more assistance.
