Question
i have a noise in the front end of my 2001 jetta gls.my dealer told me it was probaly from lack of lube on my upper sway bar joint.what do you think.and can i lube this myself from now on or not ,but first where in the heck is it located at.please help first time vw owner, maybe should have stayed with chevy truck.any help is needed.thanks for your time.steve miller oh by the way when i bought this car was told it was never in a wreck, they lied it was in the front end small wreck hard to tell but i checked records and it was in light wreck.

Answer
there are 4 suspension arms on each side of the car (at the front end). depending on the garages description, it could be any one of the four ball joints that is seizing/dry. there are no greasing points on the arms. the only way to do it is to pull back each boot and lubricate each balljoint. (there is a metal clip securing the boot which needs removing and re-inserting).
