the three letters are epc,if they dont light,the car wont start.the engine will turn over but not fire.it plays up all the time,sometimes it will take 10 secs for epc to light up,other times it can take 5 or 10 mins.
Answer -
what three letters? the engine management light is an engine with a spark through it, or glow plug light on diesels. is there any lights coming on the dash when you turn the key, abs, esp, epc etc? does the engine crank when the fault occurs? does it play up every time, or most of the time etc?
Answerit is possible that the ecu is causing the problem, but i'm not 100% sure. has the car been code read, if so do you know what the codes were, if not i would advise you to get it code read first. there are many problems which can prevent it from firing up, and the ecu would be the last thing i would try (due to price). on the other hand, i'm lucky enough to work somewhere were we have a few cars we can swap bits from to eliminate all the possible causes.
