Volvo: volvo codes, volvo awd, volvo dealer

my wife was driving out of the driveway, going from reverse to drive.. then she heard a clunck, followed by codes the arrow flashing .  codes from a scanner are p0605 and p1618

We are having towed to a volvo dealer.  any clue what this is ?  it is a 99 volvo AWD turbo XC70 wagon

The codes you have given are generic codes and are not as reliabile as the Manufactures codes, 1618 means there is a code stores in another control unit. P0605 Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) TCM-0049 is stored if the control module detects a fault in the control module EEPROM memory. That is the control unit for the trans.
