Volvo: 1999 Volvo S70 will not start, volvo s70, battery cables

Question
Ok, last night I drove it to the store, no problems starting or driving. Got in this morning to run errands and it won't start at all. It clicks once and then when I turn the ignition all the way on nothing happens. I thought it was the battery and tried getting a jump but it did the same thing. What could possibly cause this sudden problem?

Answer
Samuel,
Have the battery tested. Make sure that the battery cables are clean and tight and not broken or loose either end. Continue to test the starter and ignition switch. What is the static battery voltge? Will it pass the battery test on the tester. Sometimes called a load test.
A shorted battery will be unable to be "jumped".
