Nissan Repair: 90 Maxima intermittent Hwy stutter 2 part, oil seal, obd

Question
Hello,
I have a 90 Max w/266k mi (a lot I know). Recently it began stuttering at hwy speed. i.e. @ hwy speed it will occasionally begin to stutter if I press further on the accelerator it may stop (not always). when deceling to stop in traffic it will stall out all together. upon cranking will immediately restart.
how do i get the diag codes out of the ecm?
Thank You very much.

Answer
Nick,

Check and see if the MIL light is on?  A pre OBD car has a window and a screw that you turn to get the codes to flash.  Get a book for your year and you will have the code information.  I would check the distributor to see if the optics are coated in oil.  With the year and the miles the oil seal is probably blown.  I would go with a rebuilt distributor.
