Volvo: Overheating, 1998 volvo s90, volvo s90

Question
My 1998 volvo s90 temperature gauge still reads overheating after replacing thermastat, radiator, and
and overflow tank cap. All new parts are volvo originals.
What could possibly be wrong?

Answer
Mike,
If still overheating and the gauge is correct, you may have a bad head gasket. Some compression maybe leaking into the cooling system heating it up. There are tests a shop can preform to verify. The water pump may not be pumping or moving enough water. There could be too much build up of scum in the block slowing the flow of coolant. Does the electric cooling fan work properly? Too much debris blocking the air flow through the condenser.
