Volvo: 240 volvo - automatic sedan, amp fuse, younger daughter

Question
Our 1992 Volvo was dying out periodically while driving.  The no. 6 fuse would burn out. Recently I found out that we were replacing the fuse with a no. 8 amp rather than the required 16 amp.  Would this cause the car to die while driving?  My younger daughter has now inherited the car and I am worried that it will continue to die out.

Answer
Delia,
Just the fuse alone being a lower amp fuse would not cause the car to die, but if the draw on that fuse was greater then 8 amps it would/could fail, that would cause the car to die. When it dies is that fuse blown? If yes then continue to look at those areas for a fault.
