Volvo: S70 T5 Climate control unit, climate control unit, car mechanic

Question
I believe the climate control unit on my 1998 S70 T is beginning to fail.  It has begun to not come on after starting the car but will come on if I turn off the car a couple times and restart.  When it is not functioning there are blinking lights on two of the buttons.  My question is – how difficult would it be to replace this unit on my own?  Are there instructions documented somewhere?  I am thinking about purchasing an OEM or used unit.  I am not a car mechanic but generally pretty handy in these situations.   The car has 166K miles and still runs great.  The blower motor has become weak also over time and I am thinking about replacing that as well.

Answer
Wayne,
The flashing light means that there is/are fault codes posted in the climate system. I would have the codes read and see what they say. The unit pulls out easy and has a couple of wire harnesses connected. Blower motor and its power stage are the norm for replacement. Both usually are replaced at the same time.
